The Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy – the organizer of the World Cup in Qatar – provided free shuttle buses for beach goers from the nearby Ras Abu Aboud station to the beach site, to facilitate the arrival of those wishing to enjoy the winter weather in Qatar.

The head of the Supervisory Committee for the Beautification of Roads and Public Places in Qatar, Muhammad Arqoub Al-Khalidi, said that the 974 Ras Abu Aboud Beach project is a new achievement that enhances the diversity of public activities that can be practiced by individuals, families and tourists in the country.
He pointed out that the importance of the project lies in its privileged location near Stadium 974, one of the stadiums hosting the matches of the 2022 FIFA World Cup, as it will provide fans and tourists during the match period with a beach for swimming with integrated services, restaurants and areas for exercising, in addition to its unique view of the skyscraper scene in the area. The Executive Director of the Old Doha Port at the Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy added that some elements of the beach were implementing from recyclable materials, which makes it play a role in preserving and sustaining the environment.
The Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy announced that the goal is to transform the beach into a tourist and family area with a distinctive design that qualifies it to be one of the most prominent tourist attractions in the State of Qatar, as Beach 974 allows the practice of various beach and sports activities such as swimming, cycling, walking and relaxation, as well as enjoying food in the same place.
The beach includes an area designating for practicing sports activities, a pedestrian path and another for bicycles with a length of 2.6 km. It includes buildings and service kiosks in separate areas that include cafes, toilets, etc., in addition to providing seating, sea chairs, umbrellas, and beach bathing areas to serve beach visitors, in addition to a beach games area. The project was implementing on an area of 260,000 square meters with a length of 2.6 kilometers, of which 1.5 kilometers is the length of the beach. More than 15,000 square meters of green areas and about 512 trees were planting.
In order to enhance safety on the beach and enable its visitors to benefit from it at night, a lighting network with a distinctive design and advanced technology has been implemented that includes surveillance cameras and Wi-Fi transmitters along the beach, and 255 parking spaces have been provided, including parking spaces for people with special needs.
